Hi! My name is Gillian Gurney (pronounced Jillian), I am an Interactive and Graphic Designer, and I focus a lot of my time and interests in creative ways. I am constantly creating and designing characters, logos, and eye-catching pieces while putting my own touch on them. My personal interests in the field are in visual storytelling and animation. I strive to work towards that goal by writing stories, ideating comics, and learning from those who inspire me.
My inspiration comes from a lot of different media that I have grown up with, as well as new adventures and stories I come across. I admire and focus on various character designs and styles from video games, movies, and TV shows, looking for different designs and coloring/shading styles to learn from, as well as in-depth stories and character arcs. I also admire the different ways of storytelling, both visual and non-visual. I have read many different stories which have encouraged me in my own writing, and I have recently grown fascinated with the oral storytelling of Dungeons and Dragons campaigns.
You might be wondering about the reappearance of this fishbowl-headed character in a sweater vest and bowtie, along with the other name I go by GillsTheFish. Long story short, this persona was created due to people mispronouncing my name. So, my friends and I turned this negativity in my life into something positive, and now I wear it like a badge. I'm proud of it. The fishbowl-head character was created somewhat recently, but I feel that the character is synonymous with me.
